this is supposed to be similar to Harry Potter
it's a series for kids
this one is the first book in the series
overall, the story moves along at a decent pace
it doesn't have as much of an overall story arc though
because it's part of a series, the ending isn't as dramatic
and the events are more open ended
some of the chapter endings seem very arbitrary
the super short chapters are good to keep the pace up
but it's not as much of a tense thriller as some of his other books
as a kids book, it has a good pace
the total length is over 400 pages, so it's like Harry Potter in that way
i like the Harry Potter books better, but i would read the rest of this series |
