not a financial thriller
it's about an American in post-Nazi Germany
the story idea is interesting, but the pace drags, especially in the middle
the events don't move the story forward enough for me
the hero keeps getting close but not succeeding
which makes me feel like he's a screwup and not worth cheering for
the author's notes actually make it a bit more interesting
because a lot of the ideas and events come from actual history
i would have liked even more emphasis on the truth
it was clearly a unique time and place in history
but the story and characters don't keep my interest
in general, the biggest problem is the pacing, it's just too slow for me
overall, decent idea but not a great read |
