Notes
this is much more of a mystery than a thriller
the style is similar to Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett
it's more like a "casino noir" genre than a gambling thriller
but the pace is fast, which is good
this is because of the short paragraphs, and the short sections
James Patterson would have made every short section into a chapter
James Swain doesn't do that, but he does keep the pace moving
the chapter titles are interesting also
they don't usually make sense at first, but they make sense afterwards
the ending is pretty good, it wraps up all the plot details
and it ends on a romantic note
overall, a good book, i like this author |
