the third book on Odd Thomas
overall, it was okay, but not that great
the mysteries introduced seemed to have potential
but there was something i didn't like about the explanations
partly the tension wasn't milked in the final fight scenes
the very end didn't feel like a great denouement, kinda arbitrary
i would have preferred a romantic ending related to Stormy
the choices of who lives and dies also seemed a bit arbitrary
the author has a very unique style
he is more literary than other thriller writers
but he also likes to write in first person with his own philosophical statements
i prefer more straightforward action-oriented thrillers with plainer prose |
