Notes

the intro doesn't have a really powerful hook, but it's interesting
the book jacket copy presents an interesting story
it previews the beginning of the story without getting too far into it
at first, the switching viewpoints from Dylan to Jilly seem a bit much
the way he handles autistic Sheperd seems right by the end
there were a lot of possibilities, Shep could be completely cured, etc.
really the decisions about how to end the book are well done
that's what makes the book good, it ends well and the story wraps up well
i didn't really like the flowery prose in the beginning
the artsy descriptions of images and hallucinations didn't appeal to me
i'd rather read simple, straight prose with action and forward motion
the best part is the last hundred pages or so
it brings together all the hints from the first three hundred pages
i'm glad that things are generally not wasted, shep's mention of ice has a purpose
the title doesn't necessarily sum up everything perfectly, but it's okay
it's all about a well planned ending that brings everything together cleanly
