Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand would be with me,
and that You would keep me from evil.
first line - blessing
ask to be blessed each day, and blessed a lot
but it's not about asking for a specific material good, it's general blessing
there's no ledger, you don't have to get pain if you've been getting happiness
there's no rule that says it all has to balance out, it could be always good
second line - territory
this refers to your domain of influence and responsibility
businessmen should ask God for more business, that's their territory
God wants you to reach beyond your boundaries to touch more people
you'll feel fear when you begin to take new territory, let God work through you
third line - hand of God
feeling like you just can't do it is what you're supposed to feel
attempt something large enough that failure is guaranteed... unless God steps in
most people give up when they reach something that's too big
but instead, ask for the hand of God, it's bigger than you can do alone
fourth line - safety
success brings with it greater opportunities for failure
ask God to keep you away from evil rather than giving you strength to fight it
danger is not in being on the edge of a precipice, but in being unwatchful there
summary - Jabez was more honorable
God favors those who ask, those who strive to receive God's highest reward
overall, this analysis seems kinda forced
it's a ton of detailed interpretation from just 4 lines of prayer
i'm not sure you can really prove all this, but the general ideas are good |
