Notes

physical description of main character right upfront in first chapter
first chapter basically introduces Claire Heller Chapman at Harvard Law
hm, author omniscient viewpoint with students, but then switching to Claire
good second half of Chapter 1, fast paced as Tom is chased by agents
overall it's a good legal thriller, I like the style more than Paranoia
similar to John Grisham, and shows versatility in the writing of Joseph Finder
he's good at research apparently, his description is accurate and detailed
good use of summary mode vs. action and dialogue modes
a lot of chapters end with a strong cross-examination, makes the reader think
attorney-client privilege is only if the attorney actually works for the client
but in the case of the General, his attorney actually works for the United States
Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) vs. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
lots of differences between the book and the movie
Grimes plays less of a role in the book than in the movie
the ending is different between the book and movie, mostly in the details
i don't really like the twist right at the end, comes across a bit forced
i'd prefer a major plot twist that comes earlier and then resolves cleanly
