Notes

the beginning doesn't seem that strong, his prose isn't that great
the slang and trendy phrases are dated, "Whatever, it was my bad."
the end of Chapter 1 is decent: "And my life as I knew it was over."
it's not clear how old the character is at first, or what he looks like
he mentions Pearl Street, but we don't know what city this is
short chapters like James Patterson but longer paragraphs
hm, i don't really like his style for some reason, "Party down, dude"
the main character is introduced in Chapter 3 as Adam Cassidy
description of Nick Wyatt is good, and the quote, "Success demands paranoia."
more dated phrases, "You had me at hello," doesn't make sense really
pretty quickly introduces the corporate espionage theme, that seems good
nice section on mirroring what the other person does to make them like you
apparently this is set in Chicago, Marion Penitentiary and he says Illinois
there are some twixter themes, the anti-corporate feeling
laying out clothes at night for the next day
he mentions business books like Who Moved My Cheese
first 15 chapters, the pace is not that fast so far
GoldDust, fake invented wireless protocol similar to bluetooth
Keyghost hardware keystroke logger, this is a real product
he references competitive intelligence
they check the history of employees in the skunkworks project to learn more
good mention of "kite" - a special consultant who gathers intel by any means
twixter, Seth tries to do as little work as possible, Adam questions the idea now
good references to 80-20 rule, Fidelity and TIAA-CREF, realistic and accurate
the lawyer brings up the Economic Espionage Act of 1996
he also notes that Adam personally benefited by getting his salary from Wyatt
pcProx, a proximity reader that reads the data off a proximity card
i like the description of window cleaning for skyscrapers
it's detailed and not something most people would know much about
great twist at the end, interesting ambiguous ending, i think it works
lots of acknowledgments, which shows his ability to do good research
overall, his style is slower than i would like, but the ending is very good
