These lyrics were inspired by a poem written by Dixy Mae. I had some guitar chords and a melody, but couldn't come up with the lyrics until I read her poem. The idea is a little different, but I hope it gives a new meaning to her original thoughts.
Run Away
Date: 10/22/2003
I'm trying to run away from you
But you keep circling back to me
Across the room
It's you I see
My eyes get hazy from our history
A conversation, then you go
I can't decide if it's just me
The weight of you
Brings me down upon my knees
And I'm still trying to forget you
And I'm still lying to my mind
And I'm still trying to run away from me
I let you in and you changed me
I'm thankful for all of the things you taught me
But now you've caught me
In an unfamiliar place
And I'm still trying to forget you
And I'm still lying to my mind
And I'm still trying to run away from me
Running away
From feeling so empty
Running away
It always seems like I can't tell
If it was real or just a dream
And I've learned all I can learn from you
I don't know what I would do without you
But I will try
To live my own true life
And I'm still trying to forgive you
And I'm still trying to be free
And I'm still trying to run away from me
